Veep: The Verdict

Imagine NBC's Parks and Recreation in a much much bigger environment.

HBO's freshman comedy series VEEP revolves around, well, the veep or the vice president of the United States of America Selina Meyer which is played by  by the amazing Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

The show offers a straightforward comedy. It may not have tickled my funny bones at some moments but I surely burst out laughing on some. Obviously, the life of a vice president of a country can't be this funny and exciting. And I'm not sure if the real veep has an unbelievable desire to be the president.

The Newsroom: The Verdict

The Newsroom. The newest series from HBO which revolves around the people behind a fictional news network - ACN. The show centers on the  news anchor - Will McAvoy -  of the News Night.

As an added twist, the news being included/discussed in the show are real life news and the events on the lives of the characters are patterned and related on such news.

For ten episodes, the audience were engulfed on these characters on how they struggle to face their personal and professional problems. To make the show less serious, the writer/creator - Aaron Sorkin - added some small yet effective humor which sometimes appeared as irrelevant and over the top. Despite all of these, The Newsroom was intellectually fulfilling and emotionally satisfying. The addition of relevant news and the inclusion of various perspectives of the "newsroom people" regarding a particular event are both riveting and fresh.

Community of Friends (Go On Pilot Episode Review)

Go On...

Friends' very own Matthew Perry returned to the peacock network to do another half-hour comedy. Since Friends ended in 2004, Perry (and the rest of the casts) have been tumblin' to have a decent work after the show's 10 year run. Anniston became the hugest hit among the ensemble, followed by Cox, Kudrow and Le Blanc who all got their respective comedy shows. And now, Matthew Perry, who plays Chandler Bing in the aforementioned sitcom, pursued and produced another one after the failed single run of his "comeback" show, Mr. Sunshine in ABC.

Go On is about Ryan, a sports radio broadcaster, whose wife died in an accident and after a month of mourning, must attend to a group therapy session with delinquents and deranged people in order to have his spot in the booth again.
