EMMYs 2012 Outstanding Comedy Series Dream Nominations and Winner

Now that the most prestigious awards night for primetime television is near, let me share to you the six comedy series who I think will (and hope) to be nominated for the Outstanding Comedy Series category. And of course, I'll include who I think must win the said award.

If the battle for Best Drama Series is intense, the fight for the Best Comedy Series Award is more... exciting. There are a lot of funny shows out there, but only few make it on the list of nominees. This category is probably the most difficult one among all the categories.

You ready?

Here we go...

MODERN FAMILY (ABC)

Modern Family has won two times for this category, and it would not be a surprise if they get the award for the third time in a row. Even though the third season of Modern Family had been mediocre and shaky, the Emmy panel might overlook this and give them the award, nonetheless.

30 ROCK (NBC)

Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin are the all-time-favorites of any Television award winning bodies, and their show 30 Rock is no exception. After winning the Emmys on 2007, 2008, and 2009, the NBC sitcom lost it reign because of Modern Family. The current season (and the previous seasons) are not as good and funny as before, but the actors continually lift 30 Rock from pure disinterest of the audience.

RAISING HOPE (FOX)

Raising Hope is one of those shows who does exceptionally well but does not receive the attention it deserves. The show is poignant, funny, interesting, and engaging. Definitely, one of the best cast ensemble on TV.

PARKS AND RECREATION (NBC)

Ahhhh.... I would do anything for Parks and Rec to win. They deserve this award ever since their second season. Leslie Knope and the rest of the gang delivered their best season so far.

GIRLS (HBO)

The show received a lot of criticisms from regular viewers, however, critics all over the country praised the show for being smart, realistic, and of course, funny. Some might say that this show is just about four white girls in New York facing some white girl problems and having awkward sex all the time, but as the series' first run goes on, it proves that it's waaaay more than that.
And the Academy loves HBO, so Girls is a safe bet.

Happy Endings (ABC)

Happy Endings is one of the few shows who are able to maintain their Friends-style sitcom. As one of the funniest shows of ABC, it might still be a long shot for the show to get an Emmy nod.
It's my DREAM LIST anyway so...

End of list.

Now, let me post the show that MUST BE NOMINATED and must win, but it won't be.

I guess you already what shows are in here...

COMMUNITY (NBC)

Community is the funniest comedy show on TV right now. But for some reason, it doesn't get recieve the praise (and the awards) it deserves. Can they at least give Danny Pudi and Jim Rash an Emmy nod?

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (CBS)

The last time HIMYM was nominated on 2009, it did not win. The seventh season of this fan-favourite sitcom is definitely worth watching for. It gave us a deeper look in these five people as they overcome the never ending challenges of life. Season 7 became my favorite season, and it's about time to give Cobie Smulders a nomination for her role here.

EPISODES (Showtime)

The one of the few comedy series which, in my opinion, deserves an Emmy nomination. After Matt Le Blanc's success in the recent Golden Globes, the Emmy may probably look at this show more seriously and give Showtime's comedy a chance to win.
Technically, Episodes WILL NOT BE NOMINATED. It's ineligible to join this year's Emmys.

Now, the Emmy goes to......... Community PARKS AND RECREATION!

But Modern Family night win again this year.

I didn't put Glee here because the third season sucks.

PS. There are still a LOT of good sitcoms/comedy shows that are worth being on the list. As I said above, this category is very difficult especially for a regular viewer like me. Choosing 6 out of a LOT of good and funny shows out there is such a difficult task.

PSS. The Office and The Big Bang Theory are not on the list because the shows above are far more deserving than these two. Nonetheless, the two shows are a sure bet to get some Emmy nod this year.

PSSS. Many people say that New Girl is such an amazing and an Emmy-worthy show. I disagree. Zooey Deschanel is the only bright light of the said comedy series. In my opinion, the first season of New Girl was not as funny as we expected it to be before its premiere last year.

  1. I have all of these award winning shows recorded on my DVR automatically for me thanks to my new whole home DVR called the Hopper! Dish new whole-home DVR delivers me with full DVR functions and its PrimeTime Anytime feature automatically records all my prime time shows that come on CBS, NBC, FOX and ABC in HD everyday! I never have to worry about my favorite prime time show recording or being able to watch it. I especially enjoy using the Hoppers Auto Hop feature that allows me to skip my commercials on my PrimeTime Anytime recordings. A Dish co-worker told me that Dish is now offering customers who sign up the Hopper free.
