The hit British sci-fi teen drama Misfits has lost another of its original cast member. Just recently, Lauren Socha, who plays the hot headed chic Kelly, has confirmed to leave the show. She will not come back in the show's fourth season, to air by late 2012.
The Bafta winner has been sentenced to a 4 month imprisonment due to her admitted racially aggravated assault to a taxi driver. However, E4 reported that the imprisonment and Socha's departure from the series are not related. Therefore, it has been planned even before the arrest that Lauren Socha will not return anymore.
"A mutual decision was reached between Clerkenwell [Films, which produces "Misfits"] and Lauren earlier this year that she would not be returning for the fourth series," Channel 4 said in a statement.
Lauren Socha is not the only original misfit who will leave the show. This Bafta winning series' frontrunners Iwan Rheon and Anthonia Thomas, who play Simon and Alisha respectively, will also not appear on its 4th season. Robert Sheehan who plays Nathan left Misfits by season 2.
Therefore, Nathan Stewart Jarett is the only remaining original cast in the series. Joesph Gilgun was introduced last year as a replacement for Robert Sheehan. News came out that the creators will add three new characters (Finn, Alex, and Jess) but these aren't cast yet. Let's just hope that the new people we will see in the future seasons of Misfits are as awesome and funny as the previous casts.
