Everybody Cries (HOUSE 8x22 Everybody Dies Episode Review)

For the last time, HOUSE had proved why it is one of most well written series ever created by providing us a heartfelt and imaginative final episode.

The series finale of House focused on the main character of the show - Dr. Gregory House, MD.  For the last time, we went inside House's tricky and complex mind.

For 8 years, House has been an ego maniac and a selfish bastard towards his colleagues and his best friend while battling on his personal dilemmas in life. In the finale, we saw House having a conversation (subconsciously) with some people from his past - Kutner, Amber, Stacy, and Cameron - as they convince House that there's more to life than being a crippled asshole and his life is not as useless as he thinks it is.

House decided to end his life in an abandoned building, together with a now-dead drug addict patient, as flames start to engulf his final place on earth. The disappearance of House in the hospital made his bestfriend Wilson worried, so with Foreman, they looked for their crippled friend. However, as soon as Wilson found the building House is in, flames consumed it therefore making all of them believe that their psycho genius friend is dead. But that's not the case.

During Wilson's eulogy in House's wake, he received a text message from an unknown number saying: "Shut up you idiot". And then, he met with this mystery man and he saw his best friend once again. House faked his death to escape imprisonment (for the prank he did before) and to spend his time with his dying bff (Wilson has cancer and only has 5 months to live).

I have mixed feelings for the series finale of one of my most favorite TV series ever. Every season finales of House are amazing and perfectly written so I was expecting a lot to this. But sadly, I did not have it. I am quite disappointed on how it turned out, however, I do like the over all premise of the episode: House's decision whether he will commit suicide or not. I just don't like how it was executed. Some of the things in here don't make sense at all, just like House' escape from the burning building despite his inability to walk/run fast and the over powering smoke in the building. But hell, this is the finale. We must love it.

Furthermore, the episode wins me in the nostalgia factor. All of the previous casts - except Cuddy - appeared in here. They're either from House's subconscious, from his wake, or from both. Seeing all of them once again, for the last time, gives my heart a flutter of excitement since they were once part of this excellent series. Nevertheless, Cuddy's absence in the finale hits me where it hurts most. She was a huge part in House's life yet she was not present. Sucks. Huge negative points for that. At least House mentioned her name once.

Over all, I'll give the finale episode a  fair rating. Seeing House and Wilson running through the sunset as they spend their lives together until the latter dies from cancer was quite melancholic, nevertheless, satisfying. It just proves that life goes on. This is a story of different people who face a lot of professional and personal problems in life, and even though the story has to end, their lives will continue.

Now, for the sad part of my post. Thank you House for being part of my TV addiction. You continually surprise me with you unending twists and surprises, yet tugging my heartstrings with your melodramatic prose in life. Dr. Gregory House is, without a doubt, one of the best characters in TV history.

And for the last time... EVERYBODY LIES and EVERYBODY DIES.
