Division Divided (NIKITA 2x23 Homecoming Episode Review)

Craig Silverstein, exec producer of NIKITA, had announced that there will be at least one death in the spy action series' finale.

WARNING: If you have not seen the season finale yet, don't peek below. But if you did already or if you just can't wait to know what happened, then proceed.

There are TWO deaths in this season finale. And boy, one of them is a major character. Those unfortunate souls are....

PERCY and ROAN. Yes. The evil mastermind himself had finally died after two years of endless scheming and fighting against Nikita. Also, his loyal bestfriend Roan died.

Percy's plan is to go nuclear in Washigton DC. And by nuclear it means to "make a major meltdown". By blackmailing the president, he requests for immunity and a retirement bonanza of his own choosing as soon as he surrenders from the authorities. Therefore, it means that Percy is willing to give up Division. He called the Marines to exterminate the organization he created. What a selfish bastard, huh?

Roan has the plutonium to explode the nuclear reactor underneath the city, and if Percy dies, Roan gets a signal that he has to activate the bomb. When Percy died, Roan got the signal. Luckily, Alex and Sean were there too so they were able to stop Roan and... killed him.

Now that Division is basically a gonner, the vice president of America wanted to completely exterminate the underground headquarters of Division by taking in the agents as prisoners. Obviously, Nikita did not approve of this since she knows that these agents of Division will not go down without a fight. So before they kill the Marines, the vice president appointed Ryan as the new head of Division. Alongside with it, the organization will be known and will officially and legally exists in the eyes of the government. Lastly, Division will continue on with their main objective ever since its started - to help and protect people.

The entire episode went like a breeze. So many things wee happening at the same time and it's quite difficult to follow what's going on. I know that the episode could have been better, but apparently, it wasn't. But seeing Nikita and Michael back in Division again was satisfying. Homecoming is the perfect title for the episode.

On the other hand, I'm not sure what to feel about Percy's death. He's the main villain of the show. But his death means more screen time for Amanda next season. Because a little out of nowhere, it was shown that Amanda hired (and killed) a hacker to decode the black box she and Ari have. I just hop that the aftermath of Percy's death will bring out a more compelling and action driven plot.

I am not a fan of Alex-Sean. Dunno why. Their relationship was forced to the audience which therefore makes it unrealistic and annoying. But seeing Alex happy makes me happy. However, Sean's sidelines during the entire episode that he wants to take Alex out for dinner was unnecessary.

I did not understand the last scene between Alex and Nikita. Can someone explain it to me? Is Nikita doubting Ryan? Or is she just explaining to Alex that they will take over Division?

Nikita: You remember what I said, when I decided to let you infiltrate Division?
Alex: "Here we go"?
Nikita: Here we go again....
*followed by a few seconds of weird staring*
Over all, the season finale was quite good. It's not as perfect as I was expecting, but it turned out to be okay. It was definitely a huge game changer in the series. The show will go to a different direction next season, more like a paradigm shift for all of the characters.
Remember when Nikita always says "And the last word they'll breath before the end... is my name"? Well,  Percy's last word before he fell off that tunnel was "Nikita". Isn't that cool?
