Bye Cougar Town?!

Last February 14, 2012, ABC's Cougar Town returned for its 3rd season after being on hiatus and being shelved for 9 months (supposed to premiere on Nov 2011) by its network. Also, the show was cut down to 15 episodes instead of 22 due to the low ratings it received from the sitcom's second season (filming of current season was finished last month).

Although many assume that its return would entice the viewers to watch Cougar Town,  the first few episodes of the 3rd season did poorly - at least, ratings wise. I'm always active on twitter and I am following all the 7 main actors of the show and one of its creators, Bill Lawrence. And recently, Lawrence's tweets about Cougar Town showed his desperation and willingness to make the show have its fourth season. (PS. Read it starting from the bottom tweet upwards to fully understand it)

Summary of the tweets:

Normally, the actors of a series won't be allowed to audition or to be cast in a pilot episode for the next fall season of another series. But since Cougar Town's future is uncertain, the creators of the said show already allowed all of the actors to be cast in pilots.

And the first actor who was cast in a pilot episode of a sitcom from NBC is Josh Hopkins.

Just last week, Dan Byrd (not tweeted by Lawrence) was also cast in a sitcom for CBS alongside Ashley Tisdale.

The other actors are also reported to be auditioning for other pilot episodes.

If Cougar Town will get renewed, Josh and Dan will have to leave the other shows (but they will still get paid for their appearance in the pilot episodes). Therefore, NBC and CBS has to recast the roles of Hopkins and Byrd as soon as C-Town is renewed AND if the pilot episodes of the 2 series will be picked up by the said networks.

Based on Bill Lawrence's tweets, the creator is optimistic that his show will have its 4th season.

As a fan of Courteney Cox and Cougar Town, I really hope that the show will get a season 4. Or a 5th and 6th, for that matter. Although the first episodes of season 3 are not that funny and good just like in its second season, i know that it will be better in the next few weeks.
