#PhilJess: Who's the next American Idol?

And the winner has been named...

Having a total of 132 Million votes, America has decided once again.

Is it going to be the huge belter chic from San Diego, or the guitar-playing songwriter from Georgia?

The moment we've all been waiting for.

Our eleventh American Idol is....

PHILLIP PHILLIPS!

The American Idol has been taken once again by a dude with a guitar. Phillips is the seventh guy to win the Idol crown.

For 5 consecutive years, men had won in the said competition. The last woman Idol was Jordin Sparks back in season 6. Since then, the competition had been dominated by men.

Did the rightful winner win?

I think YES. Phillip's performance for the last 3 weeks had been amazing. He proved to the world that he's not just a "White Guy With Guitar". Although Jessica's voice is, without a doubt, one of Idol's best, Phillip's undeniable talent and charisma captivated the hearts of millions of people. And even since the auditions, Phillip already got the attention of the judges, and of the viewers.

Let's face it. American idol is not just based on pure talent. For a contestant to win, he/she must have the guts, the personality, the x factor, and the charm. Jessica is too young and she obviously lacks the experience and the emotions everytime she sings, which the judges always critiques to her. 

Phillip's soulful voice (and his guitar) has made him the newest American Idol.

Idol is just a title. The real fight begins after. Who's going to be big in the industry? Will "P squared" fans still support their winner?

Over all, the two deserve to be in the Final 2. The season was full of good and standing-ovation-worthy talents. As what the judges may say, they are both winners.

But am I the only one who is not satisfied with their "winning" song? I know it could have been better.
