Ellis and Dev will finally get what they deserve.
Jaime Cepero, who plays Ellis in NBC's Smash, has been reported to be one of the four characters in the show to be axed. Ellis was last seen getting fired by his boss for being an asshole. Looks like the most hated character in the said musical series won't be having his revenge after all.
Another character to be axed in Smash is Dev, played by Raza Jaffrey. This means that Karen's cheating ex-boyfriend won't be forgiven and will leave New York for good to pursue his political career.
The third character to be cut off in the series is Julia's husband, Frank - played by Broadway vet Brian D'Arcy James.
Lastly, Derek needs to hire a new Joe Di Maggio as Michael Swift - played by another Broadway pro Will Chase - had been fired in the series. As reported by TVLine.com
Is it just bad writing why these characters were not given that much attention and love from the fans? Or is it just that necessary for new frontrunner - Josh Saffran - to eliminate the said actors for a better and and a more smashing second season?
I am really sad for Brian's departure. I know his character would have been better and more interesting. And they didn't even let him sing properly! Now that Julia's lovers (Frank and Michael) are gone, what's next for the character?
Smash's one problem is that they find it difficult to juggle all of these characters, therefore not giving proper attention to some of them. I hate Ellis, but seeing him back again to reclaim himself as a "producer" would be awesome, and they should have at least give Dev a proper goodbye to Karen before leaving the city.
Josh Saffran, exec producer of Gossip Girl, has a lot to prove to the fans.
