The season 5 finale of The CW's hit teen drama Gossip Girl was... dissappointing. It has nothing that we have not seen before, and it seems like the entire season has just passed us without leaving a mark. In short, this season has been doing all the same things over and over and over again - with of course, some minor twists. Last season was quite an improvement, but it was dragged down by the never ending CHAIR or DAIR of Blair and Serena's annoying and diva-esque personality.Oh, and there's this character called Nate.... yeah, whatevs.
Now that Gossip Girl has only one season left to reclaim itself from being a complete trash (final season this fall with only 11 episodes), the writers have a lot to prove that they can be as good, or better, as the show's first season.
The season finale basically ended all open holes for the entire season. In one simple paragraph, here's how I will summarize the episode:
Dan was dumped by Blair who then chose Chuck. Serena used Dan for her evil motives to ruin her bff. Dan got mad so he asked Georgina for help to destroy UES. And Nate.... is still Nate. Oh, he's been so close in finding out who is Gossip Girl.
What I would have wanted to happen is a decent 'goodbye' from Blair to Dan. You were dating for an entire season for crying out loud. It's like the writers were thinking, "Dair fans, it's enough. You had more than one season. Time to bring Chair back, bitches." Just like that, DAIR is officially over. And we have to give some credit to our Brooklyn boy for not taking back Serena after what she did to him.
Overall, this season was so-so. It's entertaining, but it didn't stop me from fast forwarding to some useless and boring scenes and some eye rolling to the never ending cycle of Serena and Blair being bitches. I still hope and believe that the final season of the only teen show I am still watching (after giving up on 90210, and does TVD count?) will be awesome. Now the Georgina will be a part of the final season of GG, we know she's up to no good and things always go out of hand.
Agree. The show has gone downhill.
